One percent for the planet

As members of the international organization 1% for the Planet, we invest at least 1% of our annual turnover in various projects that contribute to the benefit of nature.

Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, owner of Blue Ribbon Flies have built two successful businesses and realized early on that protecting the natural resources that made them successful in business was good business. They therefore founded the organization 1% for the Planet in the US in 2002.

Today, the organization has grown into a global movement with more than 5700 member companies in 112 countries who all understand the value of protecting our nature.

Members can choose which projects they want to invest in. The organization provides knowledge about the projects that are ongoing or in the process of being set up.

In 2009, we became the first Swedish consulting company to become a member and have since then invested in several projects run by the World Wildlife Fund, Naturarvet, the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation and Protect Our Winters.

Since its inception, the members of 1% for the planet have collectively invested more than SEK 5.5 billion for the benefit of our natural environment and have collectively achieved major changes in several areas.

Environmental policy

We at Tangaroa AB see nature as a great source of inspiration and a place where we solve problems and develop ourselves and our clients.

It is therefore natural for us to do our best to protect our partner nature. As we develop ourselves and our business, we make our decisions with respect for nature. We see nature improvement measures as investments.

We will therefore:

constantly improve knowledge and raise awareness of environmental issues
influence, make demands on and cooperate with other companies, suppliers, authorities and organizations on environmental issues.
preventing air, soil and water pollution by considering the environmental impact of what we do.
constantly strive to improve the use of our resources within the company.

Action plan

We have drawn up an action plan based on our objectives. The action plan includes the following:

We reduce our waste to a minimum and recycle what has to be thrown away anyway.

We maximize the use of modern technology, for example, to reduce the use of paper to disseminate information to staff, customers and suppliers. We use energy-efficient IT technology.

We always consider the environmental aspect when purchasing products used in our business.

We influence our suppliers to always consider environmental aspects in their production and operations.

We constantly look for the most environmentally friendly sources of energy and actively find ways to reduce our consumption. We cycle, walk, ski or use public transport whenever possible. We carbon offset all air travel.

At our events and conferences, we choose organic, certified and fair trade food whenever possible.

Owners and employees of the company as well as our partners are well aware of our environmental goals and high ambitions. We inform our customers about our environmental work. We have an ongoing dialog with our customers and suppliers about environmental improvement measures.

We invest one percent of our turnover in projects that contribute to our planet. We are members of the international organization 1% for the planet and have since 2009 contributed to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in Sweden and internationally, the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation, Naturarvet and Protect Our Winters Sweden (POW).
